The first time I took my FAA PPL check ride, I failed the oral exam; largely because I didn't even know what the Airman Certification Standards (ACS) was. (even though I already have a Canadian PPL!)
After that humbling failure, I got my act together and developed a system to help me prepare for each of my check rides.
